TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
My Teaching Philosophy ~
HOME
- Students should decide for themselves what music they enjoy.
- Students should be encouraged to play their musical choices.
- Students should be guided in a program that achieves their own musical goals.
- Students who want to switch or explore other instruments should be allowed to do so - the student's time and satisfaction is more important than the music director's ego.
- Music education is for everyone - not just "talented" people or those in a school band program.
- Music is fun and should stay that way. If the music isn't being played "right" today, teach the student how to solve the problem.
- Anger or upset at ink spots on a page is silly!
- An empowered student becomes a productive person who loves to play and listen to music -- that's what music education is all about.
