My Teaching Philosophy ~

HOME Students should decide for themselves what music they enjoy.

Students should be encouraged to play their musical choices.

Students should be guided in a program that achieves their own musical goals.

Students who want to switch or explore other instruments should be allowed to do so - the student's time and satisfaction is more important than the music director's ego.

Music education is for everyone - not just "talented" people or those in a school band program.

Music is fun and should stay that way. If the music isn't being played "right" today, teach the student how to solve the problem.

Anger or upset at ink spots on a page is silly!

An empowered student becomes a productive person who loves to play and listen to music -- that's what music education is all about.
